How to read a pallet quote

  • Delivered vs. FOB. These ranges include freight to your dock. An FOB price looks cheaper until you add the truck.
  • Grade. Grade A has three solid stringers and runs on racks and conveyors. Grade B has repairs and suits floor storage and one-way shipping. Grades explained.
  • Volume and frequency. A standing weekly order prices better than a one-time load.
  • Your dock. Drop trailers and live unloads cost differently. Say which you need.

Questions buyers ask

How much does a 48x40 pallet cost?

Delivered by the full truckload, recycled Grade B 48x40 pallets run $4.75–$6.75 each and Grade A runs $6.75–$8.75 (as of October 15, 2026). New pallets are quoted per order because they track lumber prices.

Why do pallet quotes vary so much?

Delivered pallet prices depend on grade, quantity, distance from the supplier's yard, freight costs, your dock (live unload or drop trailer) and how often you order. Lumber prices move new pallet prices most.

How much does heat treatment add?

Heat treatment to the ISPM-15 export standard typically adds $1.00–$1.50 per pallet.
